The Secret Garden is a children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett first published as a book in 1911, after a version was published as an American magazine serial beginning in 1910. Set in England, it is one of Burnett's most popular novels and is considered a classic of English children's literature.
So many illustrators have created pictures for this book. Last year I was lucky enough to meet my future publisher who proposed me one project - the dream of my life: to paint lots of flowers, birds and cute little girl. What could be better? It took me almost the whole year to create 60 illustrations by watercolour technique and around 30 by ink for this adorable book. And I guess that each person - no matter how old she or he is - will find it interesting.
This novel is full of love, hatred, lies, friendship and mysteries. It teaches many valuable and important lessons of our life. And I consider myself to be the happiest person in the world who has chanced to fulfill this fascinating story by personal view, emotions and love through my watercolor illustrations.
